The 2020 Residency Class Includes Numerous New Programs
Las Vegas, NV (JULY 2, 2020) — The Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium
welcomes its 2020 residents and new fellows to the Sunrise Health System.
The class of 2020 includes residents in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine,
General Surgery, Internal Medicine, OB-GYN, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation,
and Transitional Year based at MountainView Hospital, and Family Medicine,
Psychiatry and Transitional Year based at Southern Hills Hospital. Additionally,
the inaugural classes of Diagnostic Radiology and Neurology residents
will be joining the MountainView and Southern Hills Hospital campuses
respectively. This is MountainView’s fifth and Southern Hill’s
fourth incoming class of residents, with the first program launch in 2016.
Sunrise Health GME will also welcome its second class of fellows into two
fellowship programs: Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship
and Gastroenterology Fellowship.

“These new residents are joining our campuses at a crucial time that
presents many opportunities for growth and comprehensive learning, as
MountainView, Sunrise and Southern Hill Hospital continue to meet the
needs of our community,” said Fran DeYoung, HCA Far West Division
Director of Graduate Medical Education.
This year, Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium’s
programs received a significant number of applications for a limited number
of positions. To list a few, the Internal Medicine residency program received
1,834 applications for 22 position, Emergency Medicine received 750 for
11 positions, and Family Medicine received 1,074 for eight positions.
MountainView Hospital launched its Graduate Medical Education program in
2015 with the accreditation of its Internal Medicine and General Surgery
Residency Programs from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME), welcoming its first residents in 2016. Since that time,
MountainView Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital and Sunrise Hospital &
Medical Center received approval from the ACGME to join forces under the
Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium, and continued to
receive accreditation for Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Radiology, Emergency
Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, OB-GYN, Transitional Year, Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry.
With programs based at MountainView and Southern Hills Hospital & Medical
Center, the Sunrise Health Consortium welcomes 112 new residents as well
as five fellows. Following the incoming classes at both locations, there
will be 244 Sunrise Health GME Consortium residents.
