LAS VEGAS, NV. (May 10, 2019) – Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium announces the
approval and accreditation of two new fellowship programs: Endocrinology,
Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship program and Gastroenterology Fellowship program.
The Sunrise Health Endocrinology Fellowship program is a two-year, ACGME-accredited
program designed to prepare fellows for a career in endocrinology after
completing an Internal Medicine residency. It provides rigorous clinical
training in outpatient management of diabetes, thyroid and other endocrine
disorders leading to American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) subspecialty
certification. Six dedicated endocrinologists will be involved in clinical
training of the Fellowship Program.
The Sunrise Health Gastroenterology Fellowship program is the sixth HCA
program in the specialty to be granted initial accreditation. The program
is designed to allow fellows to obtain clinical experience at MountainView
Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital and various outpatient clinics by working
with successfully recruited specialists in areas as diverse as clinical
hepatology and therapeutic endoscopy.
“The goals of the programs include providing unparalleled clinical
experience in an academically nurturing environment,” said Dr. Ferenc
Puskas, Sunrise Health GME Consortium Designated Institution Official.
“Our emphasis will be on developing robust teamwork amongst fellows,
faculty and staff that will be the basis of future successful practices.”
The growth of Graduate Medical Education programs creates the opportunity
to elevate medical practices in the rapidly expanding community of Las Vegas.
ACGME is a private, non-profit organization that evaluates and accredits
graduate medical education (GME) programs. Residency is the final phase
of a long educational process, required for a physician to practice medicine,
and is most influential in determining where a physician eventually practices.
