Conference featured Clark County Medical Society Resident Poster Session
LAS VEGAS, NV. (March 7, 2017) – MountainView Hospital’s Graduate Medical Education Internal Medicine
and Surgery residents placed in the recent poster presentation contest
at the Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME) Academy held
in Las Vegas.
The Academy, hosted by MountainView Hospital, featured a resident physician
breakout poster session, organized by the Clark County Medical Society
(CCMS). The poster session featured 34 posters and abstracts representing
many of the Las Vegas Valley’s Graduate Medical Education (GME)
programs. The poster session was a collaboration of CCMS, the University
of Nevada Reno – School of Medicine, Valley Health Systems and MountainView Hospital.
MountainView Hospital’s Internal Medicine and Surgery residents submitted
20 abstracts for consideration, all of which were accepted to be presented
at the session.
Congratulations to MountainView’s residents who received recognition
at the poster session:
Dr. Emanuel A. Shapera (Surgery), for receiving third place in the Clinical
Research category for his poster and presentation titled, “A Burning
Question: How to Dress a Skin Graf?”
Drs. Vivek Narasimhan and Sandeep Sankineni (Internal Medicine) for receiving
first place in the Clinical Vignette category for their poster and presentation
titled, “Extramedullary Precursor B-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia
A Rare Presentation and Opportunity.”
Dr. Leila Khalili (Internal Medicine), for receiving second place in the
Clinical Vignette category for her poster and presentation titled, “Percutaneous
Ethanol Ablation of Parathyroid Adenoma to Acutely Treat Severe Hypercalcemia.”
Drs. Samira Khan, Radhika Bawa and Sandeep Sankineni (Internal Medicine),
for receiving third place (tie) in the Clinical Vignette category for
their poster and presentation titled, “Role of Hedgehog Inhibitors
in Metastatic Basal Cell Cancer.”
Dr. Robert Wills (Internal Medicine), for receiving third place (tie) in
the Clinical Vignette category for his poster and presentation titled,
“Lichen Simplex Chronicus: Treating the Untreatable.”
