Application Process
PGY-1 Categorical and Preliminary Positions:
Applications will be accepted only through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application
Service), through the AAMC (American Association of Medical Colleges),
and participation in the NRMP (National Resident Match Program). We require
the following documents from each applicant via ERAS:
- ERAS Application
- Personal Statement
- Curriculum Vitae
- Transcripts
- Dean’s letter (MSPE)
- Three letters of recommendation
- USMLE/COMLEX scores
- Photograph
PGY-2 Preliminary Positions
These positions will be announced on our website, the APDS (Association
of Program Directors in Surgery) website list serve, as well as on the
AMA (American Medical Association) website list serve.
Once the positions have been announced, we will require the following documents
via email for consideration:
- Letter of Interest/Personal Statement
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical School Diploma and Transcripts
- Dean’s letter (MSPE)
- Three letters of recommendation which must include current/former Program Directors
- A summative competency-based performance evaluation completed by your Program Director
- USMLE/COMLEX scores
- ECFMG Certification (if applicable)
- Current BLS/ACLS/ATLS Certifications
- Milestones Evaluations
- Updated and current ACGME Case Log System Defined Category Report
- Rotation Schedule for all prior training years
- ABSITE Score Reports for all prior training years
- Photograph
Interview Process for PGY-1 Positions
After review of applications, invitations to interview will be sent to
qualified applicants through ERAS along with scheduling instructions.
MountainView General Surgery Residency Program’s six interview dates
for this academic year will be:
Friday, December 1, 2017, afternoon OR Saturday, December 2, 2017, morning
Friday, December 15, 2017, afternoon OR Saturday, December 16, 2017, morning
Friday, January 5, 2018, afternoon OR Saturday, January 6, 2018, morning
A Meet & Greet will be held on the Friday evening between each group
of interview sessions. Detailed information will be forwarded to scheduled
applicants along with interview day specifics.
Interview Process for PGY-2 Positions
Once all applications have been reviewed, interview offers will be extended
to those applicants meeting our criteria.
Interviews for the PGY-2 prelim positions will occur early in 2018.
